Leslie Ugochukwu's brilliant injury-time goal gave Southampton a point on the road against West Ham as they drew 1-1.

Southampton grabbed a deserved point away to West Ham United late on through Leslie Ugochukwu's brilliant goal as they drew 1-1.

Jarrod Bowen broke the deadlock early in the second half with a fine run and curled finish.

Saints had their opportunities during the match, with Tyler Dibling squandering a great chance after 80 minutes as he blazed a shot over the bar from close range.

The Premier League's bottom side were not to be denied however, as Ugochukwu slammed a brilliant volley into the net via the post to earn Southampton just their second point in nine games.

Southampton remain bottom of the table on 11 points, while West Ham move up to 16th place, one point above Wolves having played a game more.

Data Debrief: Hammers suffer worst winless run of the season

Despite only joining the club three months ago, not being able to beat one of the worst sides in Premier League history will increase the disconnect between West Ham head coach Graham Potter and the fans.

Their failure to hang on to their lead means the club have now failed to win their last six matches in the league, their worst streak without a win since January to February 2024.

Southampton were deserving of their point on the road, with Ugochukwu's strike now giving Saints six points on the road in comparison to five at St Mary's over the season.

Their poor run in London continues, however, as they've now gone 18 matches without a win in the capital, losing 13 and drawing five of them.
