The Coppa Italia semi-final between AC Milan and Inter is all square at 1-1 after the first leg at San Siro on Wednesday.

Inter hit back to draw 1-1 with AC Milan in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final between the great rivals.

Milan went ahead in the 47th minute on Wednesday, with Tammy Abraham dispatching a brilliant finish beyond Josep Martínez after being fed by Youssouf Fofana.

Yet Inter restored parity through Hakan Calhanoglu 20 minutes later.

The former Milan playmaker unleashed a brilliant long-range attempt into the bottom-left corner.

Rafael Leao went close to snatching it for Milan late on, but the second leg will begin with the scores all level later this month.

Bologna earned a 3-0 first-leg advantage over Empoli in the other semi-final on Tuesday.

Data Debrief: Plenty of shots, little quality

There were 30 shots in total (12 from Milan, 18 from Inter), with 11 hitting the target, though a combined expected goals of 2.41 shows that neither team generated high-quality changes with any regularity.

Indeed, both goals were exceptional finishes.

Abraham has now scored four goals in Coppa Italia this season and is the first player to net as many goals for Milan in the tournament across the last 20 seasons. Calhanoglu, meanwhile, has scored four goals from outside the box in all competitions this season, more than any other Serie A player.

Following their league draw at the start of February, Milan and Inter have drawn two games in a row for the first time since the 2016-17 season.
