After falling short in the MLS playoffs last year, Charlotte FC have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Wilfried Zaha.

Wilfried Zaha has joined MLS outfit Charlotte FC on loan until January 2026, with an option to extend the deal until June 2026.

Zaha, who has linked up with Dean Smith's side from Turkish Super Lig outfit Galatasaray, spent the first half of the 2024-25 campaign on loan with Lyon.

The Ivory Coast international managed just six appearances across all competitions under Pierre Sage, totalling to just 112 minutes of football in those outings.

Zaha will occupy a Designated Player roster slot alongside Liel Abada and Karol Swiderski, and offers another exciting option in attack for the Crown ahead of the new season.

Charlotte finished fifth in the Eastern Conference last year, but fell at the first hurdle in the playoffs in their best-of-three series clash against Orlando City.

It marks the third piece of business Charlotte have done in the transfer window, having already acquired Portland Timbers' Eryk Williamson and Pep Biel from Olympiacos.

"Wilfried is a world-class talent who has proven himself at the highest level of the sport as an elite goalscorer and chance creator," said general manager Zoran Krneta.

"His performances in the Premier League and on the international level speak for themselves, and we are confident that Wilfred can make an immediate impact in the MLS.

"He provides valuable versatility in the attacking areas of the pitch and adds that little bit of magic to our front line that can help us win more games.

"We are delighted to add a player of Wilfried’s pedigree and experience to our squad, and we’re excited to welcome him to Charlotte."

Charlotte's second season under Smith kicks off on February 22 at Lumen Field, where they face the Seattle Sounders.
