Mauricio Pochettino recently spoke of his desire to return to Tottenham 'one day', but Ange Postecoglou is not concerned by his comments.

Ange Postecoglou insisted he does not feel "disrespected" by Mauricio Pochettino's ambition to "one day" return to Tottenham.

Pochettino, who managed Spurs between 2014 and 2019, recently spoke of his desire for a second spell with the club in the future.

Postecoglou has come under increased scrutiny with Tottenham 14th in the Premier League table, and speculation suggesting his future at the club is uncertain.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is reportedly a leading contender to replace the Australian, should he depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Speaking ahead of Tottenham's clash with Chelsea on Thursday, Postecoglou acknowledged there were "outstanding candidates" to take over from him, but says speculation around his job "doesn't rock my world".

"Mauricio, if he wants to come back one day, I hope it happens for him," the former Celtic boss said. "We all have dreams and aspirations, if that's what he wants.

"You’re suggesting that he’s trying to put pressure on me? Well, I don't feel disrespected. I think if you ask Mauricio that question directly, you'd get a pretty clear answer as to what his intent was.

"I know what my responsibilities are. I'm sure if the club decides to go in a different direction, there are some outstanding candidates out there for it.

"And you know what, maybe somebody will think: 'Ange Postecoglou's not a bad coach, maybe we'll take a punt on him'.

"It doesn't rock my world, it doesn't consume me. I am here and passionate about what we are doing.

"I was brought in to change the way the club plays, rejuvenate the squad and bring success. I am focused on that and that's what I'll keep doing."
