Barcelona received the boost before their victory over Athletic Bilbao that Dani Olmo and Pau Victor will be available for selection again.

Hansi Flick says Barcelona wanted to beat Athletic Bilbao for Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, who have been cleared to play in Sunday's Supercopa de Espana final.

The Blaugrana progressed to the showpiece following a 2-0 victory over Bilbao, with Gavi and Lamine Yamal on target at King Abdullah Sports City.

Flick's side received a boost before the game with Spain's National Sports Council (CSD) permitting the club to provisionally register Olmo and Victor for the rest of the season.

The pair, who joined Barca in pre-season, could only be registered for the first half of the campaign after the club were unable to meet LaLiga's wage cap rules.

"I think it was, for us, a good signal before the match," Flick told reporters during his post-match press conference. "We are a team, and we wanted to win for Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, but also for the club.

"Of course, I'm really happy for these two players, but I'm also happy for the whole team in the end. I don't want to talk about what happened in the past, but we have to keep going, and I hope this benefits us in the future."

Gavi paid tribute to Olmo by replicating his trademark celebration by pointing towards his wrist after opening the scoring in Jeddah.

"I told him before that I was going to do it if I scored, and I've dedicated it to him," the midfielder said. "Both Dani and Pau are players who help us a lot, and we are all happy because they can play now."

"In the end, we are very happy that they can play now," added Yamal, who marked his return from injury with the second goal. "I hope that in the final, they will be with us. If the coach puts them on, let them give it their all."
