Napoli one game from glory in thrilling Serie A title race

Napoli know a victory over Cagliari will see them lift the Serie A title, though Inter are just a point behind them and ready to pounce.

Napoli are within touching distance of lifting the Serie A title, heading into their final match against Cagliari a point ahead of second-placed Inter on Friday.

Antonio Conte's team know a victory at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona will seal a fourth top-flight crown and their first since 2022-23.

Indeed, Napoli could become the first side in the history of a 20-team Serie A to win the Scudetto after a 10th-placed finish in the previous season.

It would beat Juventus' record, also under Conte, who ended the 2011-12 campaign in seventh before going on to win the Serie A crown.

Napoli look set to be without Stanislav Lobotka, leaving the midfield duties to Scottish duo Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay, who have impressed in their debut season.

But Champions League finalists Inter are hot on Napoli's heels, and make the trip to the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia to face Cesc Fabregas' in-form Como.

Como have won their last three home league matches and could become the first newly promoted team to win four consecutive home games since Hellas Verona in 2020.

But they face a stern test against Simone Inzaghi's side, who have won each of their last eight Serie A matches against Como, conceding just twice over that period.

Inzaghi also faces a tough selection call with the Champions League final looming - and, like Conte, will be forced to watch from the stands due to a touchline ban.

The Opta supercomputer favours Napoli to win the title, with Conte's team winning 86.2% of the data-led simulations. Inter, meanwhile, are handed a 13.8% chance.

But not only is the race for the title interesting, but three teams will also do battle on Sunday to see who claims the final Champions League spot.

Juventus currently sit in the fourth and final spot for Europe's elite competition, and will be confident of a victory over 19th-placed Venezia away from home.

Juve haven't won any of their four away league matches under Igor Tudor (D3 L1), but have won 16 of their last 20 games against Venezia in Serie A.

Fifth-placed Roma are one point behind Juve, and face Torino in what will be Claudio Ranieri's final game before his second retirement.

Ranieri celebrated his 500th Serie A game with a 3-1 victory over AC Milan last time out, though sealing a top four spot will be the cherry on top of the cake for the Italian.

Should Juve stumble and Roma beat Torino, they would qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2017-18.

Lazio end their campaign against Lecce, and rely on favours from Venezia and Torino if they are to snatch a Champions League berth at the death.

Moving further down the table, Milan face already-relegated Monza in what could be Sergio Conceicao's final match in charge after an underwhelming season.

After winning the Supercoppa Italiana in January, Milan have struggled in Serie A, while also losing the Coppa Italia final to Bologna earlier this month.

At the bottom of the table, the battle to avoid joining Monza in relegation is fierce. Venezia sit 19th, while Empoli and Lecce share the final relegation spot on 31 points.

Parma and Hellas Verona are also under pressure with 33 and 34 points respectively.

Empoli host Verona in Sunday's final match, while Parma face a tough trip to Atalanta, who have little left to play for.
