Spain centre-back Dean Huijsen wants to play at the maximum level possible in his career, with Real Madrid reportedly showing an interest.

Dean Huijsen has refused to rule out a move to Real Madrid and revealed his contract with Bournemouth contains a release clause, as speculation abounds regarding his future.

At just 19 years old, Huijsen has already made 25 Premier League appearances in his debut season in England, while he also made his senior bow for Spain in March.

The promising defender is contracted to Bournemouth until 2030, and the Cherries will be eager to keep him after an impressive first campaign since arriving from Juventus.

Real Madrid are reportedly among several clubs showing an interest in Huijsen, and he has done little to play down the transfer rumours by revealing his Bournemouth contract "includes a release clause".

In an interview with El Chiringuito TV, the centre-back was also asked whether he would like to join Madrid, to which he replied: "I don't know, we'll see.

"It’s a big team. Every player wants to play at the highest level possible."

When asked to name his childhood idol, the defender added fuel to the speculation by selecting a Blancos icon, saying, "Sergio Ramos, since I was young."

Madrid are expected to target Huijsen after seeing several key defenders, including Eder Militao, David Alaba and Ferland Mendy, struggle with injuries throughout the campaign.

Huijsen appeared twice for Spain in the recent international break, playing in both legs of a Nations League quarter-final victory over the Netherlands, the country of his birth.
