Wales stayed top of Group J after a comfortable 3-0 victory over Liechtenstein in Cardiff in World Cup qualifying on Friday.

Craig Bellamy hailed Wales' control as they claimed a convincing 3-0 win over Liechtenstein in World Cup qualifying.

Wales remain top of Group J after extending their unbeaten start in qualifying, and they sit two points clear of North Macedonia on seven points.

Though Wales dominated in the early stages, they struggled to make inroads against a dogged Liechtenstein before finding the breakthrough before half-time.

Joe Rodon scored his first international goal on his 53rd appearance for the national team, heading in Sorba Thomas' corner.

Harry Wilson then doubled their lead shortly after the hour-mark, nodding in his fifth goal in seven games for Wales before Kieffer Moore turned in the rebound of David Brooks' saved effort just two minutes later.

Despite being expected to beat Liechtenstein, who have not won a competitive game in five years, Bellamy was still impressed with the attitude Wales showed.

"We could have made it a lot more [goals], and we'd like to make it a lot more," he told Match of the Day Wales.

"There were good chances created, I liked how we controlled it, so yeah, it was a good win, of course - like every win is on the international stage.

"When the ball was in play, we were really sharp. As soon as they had the ball, our reactions were brilliant, which I really wanted; I demanded that today. They couldn't build anything to get anywhere near our goal.

"It's really important, we want to be like that in every game."

Wales were utterly dominant throughout, having 26 shots (11 on target), as they accumulated 2.6 expected goals (xG), with Liechtenstein not managing a single attempt.

They also had 54 touches in the opposition box to the visitors' 0, and made 119 entries into the final third.

Next up is a trip to Belgium, who lost 3-0 in their opening World Cup qualifier to Norway on Friday, but Ben Davies believes this was good preparation for that game.

"I think the three points was the most important thing," he told Match of the Day Wales.

"We dominated the game, we knew it was going to be one of those nights where we had a lot of the ball and it was all about getting the goal.

"From our point of view, I don't think too many changes for the Belgium game. We know we need to go there and get a good result, and that's what we hope to do."
